I currently have this TV hanging on my wall and usually watch it at around a 12-foot distance which I believe is a good distance for a 46-inch TV. I am also using this TV as a monitor for a home theater PC which looks just as good as my other computer monitor, if not better. The only reason i didn't give this TV 5 stars is because of the built in speakersPROS
Matte screen finish (Reduces glare significantly which is a big plus when viewing in a room with lots of windows)
Built-in video up-scalar is awesome (I am always impressed when watching VHS and DVD movies.)
Power Consumption (Only 230 Watts powered)
Weight (Weight without the stand is less than 50 lbs which is light enough for me to lift it onto the wall by myself)
HDMI connections (3 HDMI connections seems plenty enough for the devices I have currently)
60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (twice as good as previous model)
CONS
Built in speakers (Speakers started to rattle and buzz after the volume was turned up to around 50. I would defiantly recommend a home audio system if you want to get the full movie experience)
Component video connections (I had to buy a component switch that could handle my component connections from my Wii, Playstation, and DVD player)

LG 55LX6500 55-Inch 3D 1080p 240 Hz LED Plus LCD HDTV, Espresso Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the LG 55LX6500 HDTV as a bundled deal that included an LG BX580 3D/Network/BluRay player and four LG 3D glasses. In addition I bought the SquareDeal 4-year warranty and took advantage of the Amazon.com Store card's 24 month no interest special financing deal, which was the deal-clincher for me. The entire bundle was around two and a half grand. I've seen that on this same model in Best Buy just for the TV, so the Amazon bundle was quite a deal. The entire bundle was free shipping (and no taxes). Overall, it was a deal I couldn't pass up.
DELIVERY
The LG TV arrived in less than a week, the BluRay player afew days earlier, and the 3D active-shutter glasses arrived a couple weeks later. Neither the BluRay player, nor the HDTV comes with an HDMI cable. What LG supplies is the wimpy yellow, red, white low-resolution analog cable trio. Not including an HDMI high speed cable is, in my opinion, a poor marketing decision by LG because you can't get the best picture without an HDMI cable hookup. But don't be discouraged by it - the LG puts out a fantastic picture, and you can buy HDMI cables fairly cheaply on the internet, although the bubble wrapped varieties in retail stores are very pricey.
When the LG HDTV arrived, the delivery service was supposed to hook it up and verify it works -- power and picture, and sound - that's all. They also advised me to keep the shipping box for at least a week, in case I decided to return it. They basically carried the unit upstairs, put the base together, mounted the TV on it, plugged it in, got the LG logo up on the screen, and static on the speakers. It was obvious they didn't know squat about electronics, so I am happy with them not doing more. Anyway, I didn't expect white glove service, and I'm happy with them just hauling it up the stairway.
MOUNTING THE TV
The base pedestal that comes with the TV swivels +20 degrees, but it does not tilt. So if that's what you'll be using, you'll want the screen more or less at eye-level from wherever you're viewing. The TV itself is mostly only an inche thick, but the pedestal base will require about 13-1/2 inches of solid, level surface, which gives you plenty of wall clearance to plug in your cables. The manual recommends tying the screen to a wall to keep it from inadvertently tipping forward.
If you are going to mount the TV up on a wall, you will want a mount that both swivels and tilts. You won't be able to mount the TV flush to the wall - it needs at least 4 inches of clearance, which most mounting systems will give it. All the suitable wall mounts I've seen run around $100 and up.
HOOKING UP THE HDTV
Most of us are going to hook up to our cable or satellite decoder box. The hookup choices are coaxial cable, red-white-yellow RCA cable trio, red-blue-green composite video cable (plus the red-white audio cable), and HDMI cable.
Coaxial cable - That coaxial cable connector on the HDTV is only for an external antenna. But probably like most people upgrading from standard 3:4:5 analog TV to wide-screen HDTV, I just hooked the HDTV to the same coaxial cable out of the cable decoder box I just unhooked from the analog standard TV. BIG MISTAKE - DON'T DO IT - that old coaxial cable going from your cable decoder box to your old standard TV is absolutely the worst hookup to use for the HDTV! You will get a blurry picture and ghosting. Take that coaxial cable and stash it or trash it. The reason that coaxial cable causes such poor picture on your new wide-screen HDTV is that the digital signal into the cable/satellite decoder box is transformed into an analog radio frequency with an attendant loss in much of the digital information that HDTV requires to give you a superior picture. I even read some reviews where some buyers sent their new LG HDTV back because the picture was blurry. It's the coaxial cable hookup that causes the bad picture, not the HDTV.
red-white-yellow RCA cable trio -- This was the standard analog hook up for audio-video peripherals for years. Most of us have these cables lying around, and one set is supplied with this LG HDTV. This connector type is there for backwards compatibility with your legacy peripherals that don't have HDMI connectors. You can hook up the HDTV using this type cable to most cable/satellite decoder box. While it is significantly better than the coaxial cable, it still results in significant video and audio digital information loss. The yellow lead carries all the video signal as an analog signal - not digital, which results in the loss of full HD digital video information. The red and white leads are right and left audio channels only, and the full multi-channel sound out put of the TV is lost.
Red-blue-green composite video - This cable trio is for the video signal only, you still have to have a separate audio cable, at least the red-white RCA left-right, two-channel connector. The component cable results in a much better picture than the red-white-yellow RCA. The composite video connection is an analog signal, so there is still some loss of HD digital information.
HDMI highspeed - This is the cable designed and intended for High Definition devices. If you don't have one, get one or even two. You will not only get the best picture, but full multi-channel audio capability also. When I hooked up the HDMI cables - it was a fantastic, superb, gangbusters, sharp, detailed, picture - plus the sound was noticeably better.

A word about HDMI marketing hype -- The HDMI standards setting institute ([...]) only has five authorized HDMI logo modifiers (standard, high speed, standard with Ethernet, high speed with Ethernet, and standard automotive). You want the HDMI high-speed., or the high speed with internet.The "standard" may result in some signal loss. The "with Ethernet" option just says the cable can handle the extra signal traffic. It will work in the 55LX6500 model, but internet hookup has to be through the Ethernet connector or wifi through a USB hub. The "automotive" option is for equipment on vehicles running off of 12/24 volt direct current
All the other HDMI cable claims, such as 3D, 1080p, 120 Hz, 240 Hz, deep color, BluRay, etc., etc., are supported features of the peripheral equipment the HDMI cable hooks up to - and many cable manufacturers are just using those terms as marketing hype to justify asking prices of $40 to $100 for their cable. All high-speed HDMI cables will more than meet your 55LX6500 HDTV needs. That's because it is all digital information - a $6 cable HDMI delivers the same performance as a $100 cable. You can buy HDMI high-speed cable for bout $1 per foot on-line at Amazon.com, or ebay. Don't waste money on the over-priced, over-hyped cables costing tens of multiples more.
HD CONTENT:
All HD channels are not equal, and all content on the HD channels is not necessarily full 1080 HD quality. There is still a lot of content recorded in 720 HD. 720 HD might show up on the TV screen letter-boxed (with black borders all around), or it could be zoomed to 1080, in which case it may seem blurry. Analog 480 SD will show up letter-boxed on both sides. Full (1080) HD content is increasing, but these lesser resolutions will persist for years. So don't judge your 1080 LG HDTV picture quality by just what you see on the TV channels - a lot of it is not very high quality to begin with. The really good full 1080 HD quality content is on BluRay and DVD that says on the label - "full 1080 HD."
BUILT-IN SPEAKERS
The built-in speakers can only give you at most stereo sound or simulated surround sound. That's because all the built-in speakers are fixed in front of you. But they are very good speakers, even amazing, and you get a good, distortion-free sound from them. I had the sound level all the way up to 100 which is max for the TV speakers. The sound level at max was nice and loud, with a good frequency range, and lots of depth. But of course the limited speaker size can not deliver window-rattling, bone-jarring sub-bass. Most TV channels only give you monaural sound, so the built-in speakers are all you need for watching TV shows. Very little TV content actually carries stereo sound. Most DVD content only delivers stereo sound at best, but new content out may have 5.1 sound capability or better.
EXTERNAL SOUND SYSTEM
If you want ear-splitting, cinema-quality, multi-channel, surround sound with deafening thunder and explosions, you'll have to spring for a external sound system -- which is overkill unless you have a BluRay player or DVD player capable of decoding 5.1 sound, and a source (BluRay oe DVD disc) that was recorded in 5.1 sound. The LG BluRay player I have is capable of 7.1 sound, although there is little if any content recorded in 7.1 sound. If you are going to spring for an external sound system, get a digital 5.1 or 7.1 sound system with an optical cable hookup.
3D
There are three types of 3D to view: red-green, polarized, and active shutter (also called BluRay 3D.) The LG 55LX6500 is BluRay 3D ready. You can also watch the older red-green or polarized 3D movies on this TV, providing you have the red-green or polarized lenses, normally supplied with the DVD.
BluRay 3D requires active shutter glasses, which run around $100 or more a pair. Just because the DVD says 3D doesn't mean it's the higher quality BluRay 3D. BluRay 3D will say "BluRay 3D." If it doesn't, then it's not BluRay 3D. BluRay 3D discs requires a BluRay player.

This is a bit critical in nature, but I hope to provide a balanced review based on my experience with this unit. Depending on what you are looking for, this set may or may not work out well for you.
Just for background context, I mainly watch HD content hooked up via hdmi on my PS3. This includes bluray movies, hd content and some gaming. Regular tv and sd viewing were not as much of a concern to me. I own a 3 year old 26 inch sony lcd, and have also more recently owned a vizio 42 inch xvt, and samsung's latest 40 inch b550, which is the non 120 or 240hz model of their current lineup, and most recently the 50 inch Panasonic G10, which I purchased after returning this B750 that I am reviewing. I may refer to some of these in the review.
As you will read there are a few major issues I found that made me return. If you feel these wont be a problem for you, this model should work great for you. After all if you are going to pay a little under $1,700 for a tv, one should be completely satisfied with it.
Design
This tv looks beautiful, understated, elegant and simple. It has a very slight touch of gray at the bottom that you can barely notice, and it should complement pretty much any decor in your home. The unit is quite thin at around 3 inches, and I was able to lift and set up the tv myself. Cheaply made screws, almost as bad as ikea used to setup the stand were a bit of a pain to put in and remove when I decided to return the unit. After a correct assembly, the tv still sort of wobbles around and generally doesn't feel like it is solid on the stand, though it shouldn't pose any problems. I noticed the same thing on the Samsung B550 by the way. The swivel design works smoothly and easily, and though I didn't use it at all, I could see how it would come in handy.
Picture Quality and Viewing Experience
The picture quality in general on this unit is gorgeous. Nicely saturated colors and comfortably deep blacks for an lcd. I tested several blurays and they all looked excellent. You will definitely need to dial back the setting to get a more realistic picture, as much of the regular setting have over-cranked saturation, brightness and contrast to impress in stores like best buy. Overall, I can say even the most discerning movie goers and enthusiasts will find it hard to really put down the picture quality itself, though there are definitely better sets out there for the money. The picture was definitely an improvement over the cheaper Samsung B550, but wasn't drastically better. i think much of the sense of better picture over the b550 was the glossy screen and better motion processing. It supposedly has a better/newer panel (10-bit vs 8-bit) over the b550 and other cheaper model lcd's. I guess the difference between very good and very very good is a subtle one.
You are given a bevy of picture tweaking options to adjust the picture to your particular room and your eyes. If you are like me, you will fiddle at least a little bit with these, and will switch between settings depending on what you are watching.
The 240hz processing to my eye, and many other reviewers will not provide any visible difference from 120hz. But the manner in which it is implemented is really nice. You can adjust judder and blur separately to get the picture to the way you like it. I felt this worked well, and really helped in the overalls smoothness and motion intense scenes. I had blur at 10 and judder between 3 and 6 depending on what I was watching.
However, this was all marred by a few issues, the worst of which was auto dimming. I had read about this on the led side lit samsungs 6 & 7000 series (which you can also find at your local best buy and amazon as well), but did not know this was included with the b750. Gizmodo did a feature on this for the b7000 with the phrase "avoid!" in the title. Basically, anytime the scene gets dark, the tv will sense that and automatically drop or dim the backlight dramatically to get deeper blacks. The problem is that is happens usually a split second after the scene has already started and it is extremely distracting. It also darkens many bright spots in the picture somewhat, like city lights over a dark sky, or stars in a dark sky. This is very noticeable for example on the Dark Knight bluray. The more I watched, the more annoying it got. The fact that the lcd already does a good job of getting very black without the dimming is what makes it really unnecessary. It also does this while flipping channels on tv, and pretty much anything you watch. There is no way for the consumer to switch this off, as far as I know. I tried everything in the menu, from dynamic contrast to eco mode etc. There might be a more techie way, but I am pretty well versed in tech, and was not able to turn off this distracting feature. It is possible the autodimming wont bother you, but if it sounds like it might, please take note. This was a bit hard to swallow for me, because almost none of the reviews mentioned this on the b750, including cnet. This also may be solved by a future firmware update from samsung, but don't hold your breath for it. (UPDATE: Apparently this can be fixed from the service menu. However the average consumer should understand that this could potentially void your warranty and mess up your tv. If you are confident though, search some forums online and try to fix this yourself.)
The next issue was what appeared to be slight "clouding" or patches of grey-whitish color on the panel. I didn't notice at first, but once a few black screens or dark scenes came on, it was both noticeable and distracting. This could be just my specific unit, or a defect. I had read that the b750 was very good in this respect and had a uniform screen, but the whitish patches became very noticeable, and in dark scenes, it looks like there were subtle hints of cloudy patches on top of the screen. I have read that this is a common issue with many lcd's, so it depends on what you end up with. But you do run the risk of this problem with the b750 or maybe any lcd. Still, my old sony, and the samsung b550 never had this problem, so it was a little disappointing.
Another issue was a thin flickering white/silver line that would flicker on top of the screen right under the bezel during many dark scenes. It was not too noticeable, but enough to become a slight nuisance. This was really obvious on dark knight, and also the Planet Earth bluray during the immersive underwater scenes.
I know the issues of glare on lcd's has been addressed ad nauseam, but I just thought I should chime in. The screen is pitch black and VERY reflective, to the point of acting like a mirror. I have a room that gets ambient, not direct, sunlight and it was quite distracting during the day. It is rather difficult to see, so you need to crank up the brightness, which helps a bit. The display definitely gets as bright as you need. In the evening, with very dim lighting, it is still possible to see yourself reflected in the tv when it goes black in between scenes. The Samsung B550 (a cheaper tv), has a sort of matte-glossy hybrid display that I thought worked much better when compared to this one. But, the glossy display is partly responsible for the richer color and deeper blacks you get on this unit. Always tradeoffs. If you are ok with glossy screens on tv's, you will be ok with this one too. P.S. best buy is not a good place to figure out if you are ok with glossy screens. They don't look the same at home.
Off angle viewing on this unit is just not very good. The moment you move even a little bit away from the sweet spot of the couch right in the center, the blacks start to wash out, and the whole picture starts to look different. Not necessarily terrible, but different. The cheaper B550 had much more consistent viewing angle experience for some reason, I'm not sure why. Basically, if you have 3 or 4 people over for a movie, some will probably be seeing a slightly different picture.
Gaming
Reading several reviews of the b750, some said gaming was too laggy (ie: when you press a button it doesn't register right away) on the it, some said it was fine, so I had to give it a shot. I felt it was far too much lag to play games well. In other words, you will die or miss more often. You wont know why, you just will. The lag is on a millisecond level, but much of the twitch response in gaming is that way. Your eyes wont really notice that it is lagging, but it is definitely there, and significantly I might add. The "Game" mode does a little to remedy this, but it is still not perfect and the picture a bit harsh in game mode, since you can't adjust any picture settings. If you are a very casual gamer and are playing games that don't really require good timing, then the lag wont really bother you. For me, I can't really recommend it for gaming. For reference, I was playing games like Resistance 2, Little big planet, Street Fighter 2 hd remix, guitar hero etc for testing. The lag is much better, almost nonexistent on the Panasonic G10, which is a plasma. For lcd, I believe the Samsung B750 gives average or maybe below average performance. Strangely, the Samsung B550 for comparison was a little better in my experience and so was my old sony lcd.
User Experience, Menus and extra features
Going with the theme of lag, I have to say Samsung's menus are extremely slow to respond and laggy. They look ok I suppose, with a blue graphical touch. All menu navigation has extra animations and movements that make them less responsive (reminds me of a Samsung cell phone I used to own). LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV, Black Review

(More customer reviews)This HDTV is all we could have hoped for. It arrived this afternoon and we had it setup with all input devices connected to the wireless media hub in about 15 minutes. So far everything has worked beautifully. If there is any degradation of the picture due to the wireless connection I'm not able to discern it. The picture is stunning, DVD upscaling from our LG BD390 blu-ray player is incredible, HD channels all come in fabulous. Sound is synchronized to perfection.
The location of the wireless media hub is about 10 feet from the TV. It's within a recessed cabinet that houses our reciever, blu-ray player, DVD recorder, and cable HD DVR set top box. All devices are connected and outputting picture and sound without a hitch. So far we've sampled from several DVDs and a blu-ray disc. No problems whatsoever.
If you were looking at this item and wondering whether the wireless HDMI would function well, you need not worry. We have been waiting for this capability for some time and were rather apprehensive getting such an early model. If further TVs are produced with this capability I expect that they will catch on very fast. Having the freedom to put the TV well away from all your other input devices is a dream come true.

LG 47LD650 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV, Black Review

(More customer reviews)Looked at TVs for 3 months before making a decision after my 42" Panasonic Plasma died with a maximum of $1500 to spend. My first idea was to buy a Plasma again but I think it died due to how hot my room would get because of it, then I moved on to the LED TVs and wasnt impressed with the picture quality when I compared it to these 3 TVs.
I dont want to write a few thousand words so I am basically going to put this in a real simple explanation.
If your considering buying an LED LCD please go look at this TV or Samsungs LN650 or Sony HX701 I guarantee it will make you think twice about purchasing an LED TV based on the picture quality.
So why did I purchase this over Samsungs LN650 and Sony HX701?
Well it has a higher contrast ratio (Same as Sony), the response time is 2ms (Samsungs LCD & LEDS are 4ms couldnt find Sonys), it has a 240hz refresh rate (Sony has 240hz, Samsung 120hz)
THE MAIN PROBLEM WHICH I READ ABOUT IS THE AUDIO/VISUAL LAG via HDMI connection in both the Sony and Samsung TV. I have had NO PROBLEMS AT ALL and YES I DO RUN THE TV THROUGH A RECEIVER! (ONKYO HTR557) Ive watched HD, SD, DVD, and played Xbox360 with no audio/visual lag! I did notice this problem on the Samsung in 1 store. Also the Sony Model is a Canadian Model which you will only find at Costco in the US.
CONCLUSION: One thing that bothered me was that I couldnt find much information about this TV online but usually people will be quick to speak up when something is wrong with a product. The main thing I can say is the picture quality on all 3 TVs are great in this order 1)LG 2)Sony 3) Samsung. I cant comment on the sound because I use a surround sound. I have no had any problems with uneven back lighting, clouding, or audio/ visual lag. The only pain about this TV is mounting it because LG expects you to purchase a VESA wall mount. In other words the screws that usually screwed into the back of a TV to mount it to a wall are not included. I did find out that it is an M6 screw in the manual but it doesnt say the length. I recommend a 1/2inch M6 screw just to be on the safe side. Hope this review helped!

A little update....so far the TV have been worth every penny spent. Been watching a lot of DVD's and HD & SD content, playing Xbox360 and watching netflix. Unfortunately I havent experimented with the netflix on the actual TV because my router has no more ports for the TV :( but I do play netflix through my Xbox and it does look great 98% of the time. Im having a hard time getting a good picture watching sports though but I figure it needs some adjustments to get it just how I want it *might just me being to picky* Everything else looks great. The Picture Wizard adjuster is pretty good and will give you the results you want...its not a professional calibration but it does what its supposed to do. The intelligent sensor option tends to always make the picture very dark so thats a downer but who really cares for something thats going to consistently adjust your picture due to how lit the room is. So other then what I wrote before about the manual not including or mentioning what kind of screws to use to mount this TV to the wall mount...I would say get a full motion wall mount because the viewing angles can be a little tough to get used too coming from watching a plasma TV.

Well nothing new. This TV works like a charm in every aspect. I recently re-modeled my house and had to take everything down except my TV but I did have to take down the surround sound so I had to use the TV's speakers...I gotta say the speakers in this TV can get very loud and stay completely distortion free. I bought the LG Wifi Dongle to access the widgets but it seemed that after the update it wont even load it...im sure its some sure its an easy fix but I havent gotten around to it as its not that big of a deal to me.

Another little update.....I got the widgets working, all I had to do was unplug the TV and hold the power button for 45seconds. When I turned it on they worked perfectly fine.

(More customer reviews)I researched the purchase of this TV for over six months- far more than I ever researched even a vehicle purchase. I've had it for approx 2 weeks now and am very impressed. I was originally planning to purchase the 44in model but eventually changed my mind and purchased the 52 in model.
The only feature I was worried about not having was the 120 hz. I went to an electronics store and viewed both 60 and 120 hz side by side and could not tell the difference- the 60 hz is plenty fast for me.
Many people complained about the sound quality of last year's model. Unfortunately I have no pertinent information to add here as I am utilizing a surround sound system.
You will not regret purchasing this TV

(More customer reviews)The Vizio SV421XVT, is a very nice 42 inch lcd TV. With 120hz refresh rate, and 240hz scenes per second, this television offers depth perception found only in high end LED TVs.
The picture quality and black levels are very nice. The smooth motion is very visible and beautiful. Although we had to return 2 televsions to Vizio because they came with Stuck Bright Pixels, we are still very pleased with the TV over all.
I would not recommend buying a Vizio from Vizio directly. The swap out of the units we had with Stuck Pixels with Vizio was a long painful process, but that does not take away from the picture quality of this unit. I would suggest going the route of Amazon or Wally World when purchasing, no questions asked returns.
I updated this review and have shortened it greatly to focus back on the quality and performance of this unit.
Amazons customer service is great, but PILOT delivery is bogus, it is not white glove and they are liars.
That being said, I would recommend the SV421XVT to anyone wanting a good quality LCD at a reasonable price.
It does not come with the bluetooth remote, no apps, no wifi, no 3d, and it does not hold a mega contrast ratio in the millions, this is a late 2009 model LCD, but at the current Amazon asking price, it would be perfect for the standard families everyday use.
Deep blacks, little to no judder, bright whites, and crisp accurate color. 4 stars.

(More customer reviews)I got my 60ex700 yesterday and I am really happy with it. It is a great TV. There was a little flashlighting and uniformity is not perfect but it seems you can tune it quite a bit. There are an amazing amount of settings and I have it set to be more than acceptable for me. Great price on a great TV. Contrast is great with deep blacks and white whites. The motionflow is great also.
Furthermore, the sound is acceptable for normal viewing and much better than I expected due to all the people dissing it. I have a nice theater 5.1 setup but I don't want to use that for everything and the sony sound is just fine.
Netflix and internet stuff is great, the remote is fine. This technology is getting so good we are really picking nits at this point. I just hope it is engineered to be reliable and long lasting because I intend on having this in my living room for the next 6-10 years.
I am sure you can spend a lot more and buy a better TV with better picture quality but for this price... killer TV.
The only downside is the TV is so damn thin and light that I feel nervous holding the bezel when I have to put in the inputs. It is solidly built but it just looks so fragile.

(More customer reviews)I've had this TV for about 2 months now. I've connected an HDTV cable box via HDMI, progressive DVD player via component input and TIVO through S-video. So far the TV has performed extremely well, no problems to report. I've also been very impressed with the sound this TV produces. It's so good that I don't normally bother to run normal TV through my AV receiver.
Standard definition looks better than I expected for both straight cable broadcasts and through the TIVO recorded on medium quality. DVD look very good, but the true HDTV sources really shine with this TV - the Olympics were amazing!
The display is bright enough that I actually watch it with the bulb in "reduced" mode (even in the day) to extend the bulb life.
I've had no problems, and as suggested for anything projection systems I've got the TV hooked up to a UPS in case of power failure, and I did spring for an extended warrantee with bulb replacement.
