Before I get into the nitty gritty, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a review junkie. Sue me. So when I know I want something like a new HDTV I research high and low to not only find the best price, but I also want pretty darn close to the best product out there on the market. From professional reviews to consumer reviews here on Amazon, I do my best to soak it all in. With that being said, in my experience I've never been disappointed with something I've bought that I've done extensive research on...
And that holds true with the Vizio VF550M.
I bought my set at Costco during the Thanksgiving Weekend Sale. One of the first things I noticed right out of the box was how big it really was. I upgraded from a 46" LCD and the size was noticeably (and awesomely) huger. Yes... huger. When I saw the VF550M display at Costco it just didn't look that big because it was set next to other 50-60 inch sets and in the middle of a huge warehouse. However, while setting it up I realized it was the perfect size for the further viewing distance in our family room. The set-up was easy enough. I mounted the tv with the VideoSecu Adjustable Tilt TV Wall Mount (bought on Amazon) which I was very pleased with. We ran the cables through the wall to my devices to hide them... and I must say, it looks beautiful mounted to a wall. I would definitely recommend mounting this set. I didn't care too much for the remote that came with the TV so I opted to upgrade to the Logitech Harmony 670 remote (also got on amazon).
The picture on this TV was just as good or better than any other HDTV I have ever seen. The black levels are great with the DCR feature. Blu-Ray looks amazing on the big screen. I will admit I jumped on the 120hz bandwagon and as of right now I couldn't be happier with it when it comes to watching sports- but thats all I use 120hz (or "Smooth Motion Effect") for.
PROS
-BIG
-Great 120hz feature for Sports
-Good out of the box sound
-5 HDMI ports!
-Stunning picture
CONS
-Don't care for the remote

VIZIO E370VP 37 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV Review

VIZIO E370VP 37 Inch Class Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since there are no reviews yet for this product, I'm going to write this review sooner than I normally would and then update after I've lived with this TV for a while. My unit was damaged in shipping but a replacement is on the way courtesy of Amazon so I am using it in the meantime. Like other reviews I've read for this size, I'm choosing a 37" unit because it fits in my cabinet perfectly. If I did not have that constraint, I would definitely purchase a 42" as there are many more choices in that size range from more brands. As a point of reference, I own 4 year old Sony Bravia LCD TV also and have been very happy with that TV and brand. If Sony made this size I would have purchased another Sony.
Here are my thoughts on this TV...
Pro's:
- The picture. Stunning. Really great picture. Smooth. Looks at least as good if not better than the Sony in the other room. Great performance on high speed motion shots.
- Menus and navigation. Very intuitive, easy to use and navigate. I haven't had to use the manual once. Easy plug and play.
- Size. Nice and thin. Easy swivel stand. Looks very modern.
- Lots of connections in the back. They are listed on the Amazon product page so I won't repeat here, but pretty much whatever you need is on the back... plenty of HDMI ports, etc. Fast HDMI switching when you go between inputs.
Negatives:
- I think at this price point, some sort of internet connectivity should be included. If this were in the $450 range I'd get it, but at the current price, I'm left thinking this isn't the greatest value.
- Sound. WOW. Most reviewers on most LCD TV's complain about the sound. I assumed that things were getting better and that sound would be at least as good as my four year old Sony. Not so. It's worse. No base and just disappointing sound. I know that most people hook these up to external speakers, but if you're looking for a set where you don't need to do that, you might want to keep shopping.
- The remote. CHEAP. Seriously, the free remote from Comcast is nicer. Come on, Vizio, invest a little in the remote. Most people at this price point and size aren't going to be buying a universal remote I'm guessing. Would be nice to have something better. The buttons are very small, poorly laid out, and do not illuminate. I'll be using my Comcast and Apple TV remotes but be warned, this remote is disappointing.
Overall it feels like this TV should be in the 450 price range and likely I'm guessing it will be promoted down to that once it's been on the market a little while (it's brand new as I'm writing this). Again, I need this for a specific sized cabinet so I'm going to keep it. True, the most important thing is excellent picture, which this TV has, but these days we consumers expect a bit more, like decent sound and a remote that's not so Fisher Price. This reminds me of a TV I'd see in a hotel room. At this price I think you can probably do better.
Hope this is helpful.
UPDATE 6/25... so the "dent" in the front speaker is a design feature!?! Amazon replaced the original unit with another Vizio which has the dent in the same place, right next to the Vizio logo on the front... you can see it on the Amazon page if you zoom into this area. One of my friends described the dent as looking really cheap. I'll have to see if I get used to it but think it's a ridiculous design feature on the speaker in a very visible location.
Update 6/28: I added a modestly-priced Logitech sound system Logitech THX-Certified Speaker System Z623 and I'm really pleased with it... the TV remote adjusts the volume level on the Logitech when plugged into the jack on the back of the TV, and it makes for a nice system with great quality sound.

VIZIO VSB200 Universal HD Sound Bar Review

VIZIO VSB200 Universal HD Sound Bar

If you have one of these...you need to remove the speaker grille. Look on the lower right side and you'll notice an opening for the LED indicators, but they failed to create one in the framing to accommodate the IR receiver. A few snips with some sidecutters and you can solve the problem. My remote now works flawlessly from all angles at a considerable distance.
I have no room or need for a subwoofer in this application and this sound bar was perfect, at the price I could not pass it up.

well first i will say the packing was very good and shipping was very fast as far as sound i have to be honest its terrible. it was very cheap and didn't expect much at all just wanted because i got a new tv and the volume is so low i cant understand what people are saying well i have a cheap set of speakers that sound great but cant find the remote and hate to jump up and down to ajust the volume when watching a movie or when a commercial comes on so i got this it was cheap. this is hard to tell if the speakers are on its very low with the volume all the way up still can hear but sounds really bad and its not that loud even with the volume down some the speakers sound bad. i would not recommend this i would wait till you find something better because you will end up getting something else anyway i am gonna stick to getting up every five minutes till i get something else and im lazy your call just my opinion. i will say the company that sent it to me took care and packed it good and shipped it asap and it could just be my bad luck and i got a defective set every company has them even the best ones.

VIZIO VHT510 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater with Wireless Subwoofer (Black) Review

VIZIO VHT510 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater with Wireless Subwoofer (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the Vizio VHT510 from Costco about 2 weeks ago. I set it up right away, however I haven't mounted the rear surrounds yet. It works great and the sound quality is better than you could reasonably expect for a sound system at this price point. It is great not to have to run wires and still get 5.1 surround. It looks neat and clean and not at all cheap or shoddy like one might expect with a sound system just barely over $300.00.
I have just a couple of concerns. As per the previous review, there is only a single optical input. I currently have it connected to my 50 inch Samsung plasma; it would be really nice to have a couple more optical inputs even if the price went up a notch. My more serious concern is with the LED lights on the sound bar; they are supposed to light up when changing the volume up or down indicating the sound level. Unfortunately it doesn't work at least half the time. The volume still changes, but it is concerning when something is not working as it is supposed to on a brand new electronic device. I have seen other complaints about this very same issue on message boards such as AVS forum. My heart dropped when my brand new sound system started doing that very same thing a few days ago. Some have returned/replaced the sound bar only to have this feature be as unreliable with the second unit. I can't deal with reboxing and returning it so I just hope that it continues to work as it has and that this issue does not turn into something else that effects the actual function of the sound system. It would be great if Vizio could address this problem since it is not an isolated incidence.
Addendum:
I finally returned the Vizio 510 to Costco today. The LED volume indicator completely stopped working. The volume still changes as it should and the system still sounds great, but I am not comfortable keeping a device that doesn't work correctly from the very beginning. While waiting in line at Costco returns, someone came up to me and asked if I had a problem with the LED indicators. He said he had the same problem and returned it as well. This seems to be a real issue with this product.
Addendum 1/8/2011:
I am giving the Vizio 510 one more chance. The sound quality was just so good that I am going to risk it. I am trying to convince myself that LED volume indicators are not that important if it works well otherwise. If everything else is good, I will ignore that part if, or should I just say, "when" it happens. If there are any other issues, at least Amazon has an easy return policy. It is a super good sounding system for

Vizio VBR120 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black Review

Vizio VBR120 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's frustrating to hear how well this Blu-Ray player works for others, but it's also consoling to realize that I'm not the only one who's experienced problem after problem with it. I won't dwell on the glue issue, since it's been covered well enough by other reviewers. My main complaint is with the seemingly random hardware issues with this model. From day one, powering on the player has always been a crap shoot, and to date I've never been able to turn it on, or eject a disc, using the buttons on the machine itself. Thank goodness for the remote!
Sometimes it will play a disc quickly and without any problems; other times it will click and grind for one to two minutes before getting started. I want to be clear, however, that it's not so much the slowness that bothers me, but rather its inconsistency. Every day is a surprise, because I don't know whether it will turn on and hum smoothly away, or turn on and grind, or simply not turn on at all.
The coup de grĂ¢ce came tonight, when I settled down to watch an evening film. Picture, but no audio. The user manual, a tome of wisdom, suggested that I either turn up the volume or double-check the mute button. Right. Thanks for the tip. Nor do I have any headphones or external devices plugged in, but the manual doesn't offer any suggestions beyond that.
I plan on returning this unit as soon as possible and exchanging it for something else. My recommendation to potential buyers? It's a great deal if you manage to get one that works as well as the models some of these other folks picked up; but it also seems like quite a few of us have run into a number of similar problems that you may want to avoid by dropping a few more dollars on a different brand.

VIZIO VHT210 2.1 Home Theater Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer (Black) Review

VIZIO VHT210 2.1 Home Theater Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this soundbar in mid-October and I really like the sound it produces. I am no audiophile, but the sound is much better than my Panasonic G10 TV speakers. The surround sound is good, and the subwoofer produces deep bass that really makes movies come alive. On certain shows the bass can become overpowering, but adjusting the sub volume and overall bass cures the problem.
Unfortunately, I am already on my third Vizio VHT210 because he build quality is just terrible. On the first one, the LED volume indicator lights stopped working after two days. I exchanged it, but my second one had a loud buzzing sound coming from the bar when plugged in. I exchanged that one as well, and just like my first one the volume LED's stopped working after a couple of days. After some research on the internet -- specifically AVS Forums -- I found many people having the LED problem with the Vizio's, and to a lesser extent the buzzing problem.
It is a shame Vizio's quality control is so poor because I really like the sound this soundbar produces. I intend to replace this one with another brand. If you can find one that does not have the buzzing or LED problems, then it is an excellent soundbar for the price ... unfortunately I am 0-3 with it and that's unacceptable.

Sony KV-27FV300 FD Trinitron Wega 27" TV Review

Sony KV-27FV300 FD Trinitron Wega 27 TV
Average Reviews:

I was moving into a new house and thought it was time to get a new TV. After doing extensive research, and not wanting to pay the current high price for HDTV, I decided on this new Sony Wega. It was a simple decision, really. I mean as far as non-HDTV TV's go, this set blows away the competition. the closest runner up in my opinion was the Toshiba... but the extra [money] for this TV is more than worth it.
The picture quality is amazing. No other set came close. Combined with the asthetics of the set itself, this is one beautiful TV.
As far as sound goes, this set is 10 times better than anything I heard from other TVs this size. With built in subwoofers and the "WOW" sound feature, the sound is full and rich.
I've had this set for a few months now and I'm very glad I spent the extra couple hundred to have a better viewing experience every time I turn on the TV.

VIZIO VX37L - 37" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV Review

VIZIO VX37L - 37 LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just bought this unit from Sears for $759, and it's been everything I expect. After reading the review at CNET, it appeared to be the LCD I wanted. I wasn't interested in 1080p because I'm neither a gamer or that overly concerned about seeing every blade of grass during a game. The Vizio VX37L is very adjustable as far as color - you will see reviews about its color settings out of the box (people look like they have terminal sunburn), but the unit is not only fully adjustable for red/green/blue and tint, but has a separate setting for each input (RF coax/antenna, A/V, component, HDMI) so if you like HDMI a little brighter than standard def shows, you can set it that way.
You'll also read comments around the internet about the sound quality. If you're an audiophile, just connect a sound system to the audio-out connections. For the integral speakers, the sound improves remarkably if you use an HDMI connection.
The 37-inch screen is the perfect swap if you're going from a 32-inch 4:3 unit. The picture height is almost identical, and you gain 7 inches in width to give you the 16:9 image.
If you're looking for HD on a budget, and aren't someone who must have maximum resolution, this is a very suitable television at an excellent value.

VIZIO SV421XVT 42-Inch XVT-Series 1080p 240 Hz SPS LCD HDTV Review

VIZIO SV421XVT 42-Inch XVT-Series 1080p 240 Hz SPS LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

The Vizio SV421XVT, is a very nice 42 inch lcd TV. With 120hz refresh rate, and 240hz scenes per second, this television offers depth perception found only in high end LED TVs.
The picture quality and black levels are very nice. The smooth motion is very visible and beautiful. Although we had to return 2 televsions to Vizio because they came with Stuck Bright Pixels, we are still very pleased with the TV over all.
I would not recommend buying a Vizio from Vizio directly. The swap out of the units we had with Stuck Pixels with Vizio was a long painful process, but that does not take away from the picture quality of this unit. I would suggest going the route of Amazon or Wally World when purchasing, no questions asked returns.
I updated this review and have shortened it greatly to focus back on the quality and performance of this unit.
Amazons customer service is great, but PILOT delivery is bogus, it is not white glove and they are liars.
That being said, I would recommend the SV421XVT to anyone wanting a good quality LCD at a reasonable price.
It does not come with the bluetooth remote, no apps, no wifi, no 3d, and it does not hold a mega contrast ratio in the millions, this is a late 2009 model LCD, but at the current Amazon asking price, it would be perfect for the standard families everyday use.
Deep blacks, little to no judder, bright whites, and crisp accurate color. 4 stars.

VIZIO VSB210WS Universal HD Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer Review

VIZIO VSB210WS Universal HD Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've tested sound bars from Sony, Yamaha, Philips, Samsung and Polk Audio. Was not able to find the Marantz and Denon models. These products encompass a wide range of price points. The one I bought was the Vizio: great sound and convenience at a price near the bottom of the range.
The wireless subwoofer is an amazing convenience. Its range is at least 20 feet, and it sounds terrific in a variety of placements.
I connected the soundbar to my HDTV console with an optical cable, which works extremely well with one caveat--to activate the audio, the TV must be set on a digital channel. After that, analog audio (including from a DVD player) comes through as normal. If you use the included conventional cable, no issues.
You have limited control options to tailor the sound, but that's to be expected at the price. Vizio uses SRS Labs' surround virtualization chip and also throws in its volume stabilizer to knock down loud commercial breaks. This is a cost sacrifice, as the Dolby and DTS HD audio codecs are much more expensive. No problem; the others sound thin, while the Vizio washes you with clear, powerful sound.
It's not true surround sound, but unlike some rivals, the audio experience isn't overly directional (sounds good throughout the room) and is much better than basic stereo. If you can't run wire through your walls to deploy full surround, this is a fine compromise.

VIZIO VBR231 Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application, Black Review

VIZIO VBR231 Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love Vizio products and just bought a 42 inch LCD flat panel which I am quite happy with. Needless to say, I was looking forward to purchasing the Vizio 231 blu-ray player expecting the same level of quality. On the outside the VBR231 is gorgeous and well styled and designed. Everything is perfect. However, the blu-ray player has 3 major flaws that cannot be overlooked.
Firstly, this model cannot stay connected to the internet. So once you log off any internet app, you have to go thru the entire reconnection process using setup all over again. This gets tiresome after about 3 times. Tech support has confirmed with me that this model cannot stay connected with internet unlike their other blu-ray models. No explanation as to why.
Secondly, because the blu-ray player cannot stay connected to the internet, every time you turn it on, it tries to reconnect to the internet on its own. It never succeeds but these means you have to wait to use it for up to 5 minutes until it's done trying to reconnect. Just putting in a dvd or blu-ray disc can take a looong time and it's very frustrating.
Thirdly, the VBR231 has no function codes for the remote. This means you cannot control the player with any universal remote and are forced to use Vizio's remote. This oversight is made even worse when you discover that the VBR231 has one of the worst remotes I've ever seen. You have to be Frankenstein just to press these buttons and get it to work. What were they thinking when they made this?
Because of these three major issues I'm returning my model and starting over again.

VIZIO VBR210 Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application, Black Review

VIZIO VBR210 Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this Blue-Ray player from Target 2 weeks ago and love it. I read the reviews on the 220 model after my in store purchase and was really concerned at first but have not experienced any of the issues mentioned in those reviews. I am glad though I purchased the Target 2-year $19.99 replacement warranty just in case.
The Blue-Ray player comes with a set of composite cables included in the box which I used while I was waiting for my HDMI cables. The picture even with just composite cables was great. The Vizio 210 has one HDMI port, one composite video/audio port or one component video/audio port (cannot use composite if using component), one digital coaxial, one usb and one ethernet port.
Wireless setup was a snap and I was connected in 30 seconds. The only annoying thing is that the wireless adapter on the back of the Vizio unit has a red light which flashes continuously. No dropped wireless connections like reported with the 220 model. Vizio recommends using their router but this is no doubt a marketing ploy as any wireless router will work.
The upconverting works really well. We got the new Bruce Springsteen dvd/cd set which includes some really old video concert footage. It looked really dark and hard to see on the regular dvd player but looks much, much better on the Blue-Ray player.
Had no issues playing Blue-Ray movies and while it does take about 10-15 seconds to load the Blue-Ray disc I did not find this unexpected as the Blue-Ray disc contains a lot more data than a regular dvd. Also had no issues stopping and restarting a movie as it remembered where I stopped the disc. This was reported as an issue on the 220 model. It also gave the option to continue from the stopping point in the movie or restart from the beginning of the movie which I like.
There is a usb port on the Blue-Ray. It will play video and audio files contained on an inserted usb thumb drive and will also upconvert those videos files. I have not tried hooking up my laptop via usb yet but will provide an update. I use a 16GB usb thumb drive and the Blue-Ray player displays the usb drive folder structures and file names on the tv so it is easy to find stored media.
I have only used Pandora so far and that has worked really well. I will update this review after I have tried Netflix and BD-Live.
The only odd thing I noticed when I tested this player with hdmi, component and composite cables was that when I use component video/audio cables the zoom settings on my tv did not work correctly even though they worked fine with hdmi and composite cable. In all fairness this could be a tv issue and be unrelated to the Vizio.
UPDATE 1/19/11: Netflix works great and streams very quickly. However there have been a few incidents where the VBR210 froze either during streaming or at movie commencement and had to be powered down and restarted. There were also two incidents where there was severe pixelation and both incidents were resolved by powering down the VBR210 and restarting it after a few minutes. Overall in relation to the number of movies streamed these have not been significant issues and were quickly resolved. Still no issues playing either Blu-Ray or regular DVDs. It does appear though that because this unit does not have internal memory that the USB drive is critical for streaming to work properly. I use a 16GB thumb drive which is approximately 50% full. Also my Cisco-Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster has worked flawlessly with this VBR210.

Vizio VBR333 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black Review

Vizio VBR333 Blu-Ray Disc Player - Black

I see a lot of bad ratings about this Blu-Ray player. The only thing bad about this player is the remote control. The complaint you've heard about it being clunky is true. As far as the Blu-Ray player is concerned it can't be any better. The quality and speed is quick and precise. The complaints about the menu being confusing is just not so. It is on par with the sony and samsung players I have had. The quality and video streaming is quick and accurate. It has no problems holding the HD steam. The Roku Box I have does seem a tad quicker in locking on to the movie and starting the stream. But once the Vizio locks on I have no problems watching standard or HD movies on netflix. This player is definitely the best player for under $200.00. The base is deeper and the quality is cleaner compared to the Samsung BDP-1500 I had in the past. If you can put up with a clunky remote this player is definitely excellent quality. Highly recommended.

RCA LED19A30RQ 19-Inch 720p LCD TV - Black Review

RCA LED19A30RQ 19-Inch 720p LCD TV - Black

We used this model as a replacement for an old and bulky 15" CRT TV. In addition to the larger screen and sharper picture, we gained counter space because of the thin form factor and by mounting it on the wall (the 100 mm VESA VideoSecu mount sold by Amazon proved to be a good match). Save yourself the frustration I experienced by not reading an insert about codes used to program satellite and cable systems. The correct code was not among those reported by DirecTv's online search, so the manufacturer's provision of the correct code was helpful. With an HD satellite receiver and HDMI connection, the TV provides an excellent picture. Speakers are built into the bottom of the screen, so sound is projected down. Depending on how your set is mounted (in my case, in a corner under cabinets and 6" or so above a counter), the sound might reflect off such surfaces with uncertain (although not necessarily unpleasant) results. The speaker placement seems to be optimized for mounting on a wall above the ear level of viewers. Overall, it is an excellent buy.

VIZIO 32-Inch SV320XVT Full 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Review

VIZIO 32-Inch SV320XVT Full 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

We recently purchased this television from a different store but were impressed as soon as we turned it on. We had received a 24" Vizio LCD for Christmas, but its quality was severely lacking - the picture went dark very quickly if you viewed the screen off-center, even about 10-20 degrees off axis - to the point that having the television on top of a chest of drawers caused it to be too high to watch TV with any decent quality. We returned that one and bought the SV320XVT and were blown away by comparison.
Pros: The 1080p quality at 120Hz makes digital television channels look great. Device buttons are easily accessible for changing inputs instead of pressing a single "Source" or "Input" button multiple times to get to the input you want. There are three HDMI inputs, which is great for a cable/satellite tuner, Blu-Ray player, and another source (we use it for the Canon 7D's video output). The viewing angle is excellent, especially for an LCD. We were able to get a consistent view at about 120-140 degrees off-axis. Different video modes are available for different types of viewing (Basketball, Golf, Baseball, Movies, Normal, etc.). Sound quality out-of-the-box is excellent, though a surround sound system could be hooked up with either RCA, HDMI, or TOSlink.
Cons: 120Hz can still make some live-acted shows and movies look computer animated, but that happens with any TV that has this feature. This TV does not have a 10/100 network port, which I've only seen on a few televisions at this point, but it would be nice to have it for web streaming. There is an RGB input, however, so we can still hook it up to a computer. I'd also like if the TV had an alarm clock on it, but that's a very minor issue. Also, having a jog dial on the bottom right side of the panel makes for an awkward way of controlling power, volume, and channel control; I'd rather have actual buttons for each. It took trial and error to figure out that adjusting the volume from the side did not require me to push the button inward to confirm the change, as that just turned off the TV.

VIZIO E320VA 32-Inch Class LCD HDTV, Black Review

VIZIO E320VA 32-Inch Class LCD HDTV, Black

I have this TV and enjoy the sound and picture quality. I'm a soundaholic. If you've never had a stereo or srs/home theater sound... it DOES take some time to adjust. The sound can be *VERY INTENSE*.
I suggest you adjust the sound; turn the TruSurround HD sound *TO OFF*, but do leave the TruVolumn *ON* (you can enter the graphic equalizer presets) use these to set the quality sound you enjoy most. When you do this it's of course 'best' to be playing music, music dvd IS BEST.
If you SET the preset equalizer setting to *FLAT OR OFF*... you will be able to enter and customize the settings on your (*bass & treble*) levels.
Don't hesitate to play around with the sound settings, one click will return it to the factory settings.
You will require a lower volumn level, significantly lower... the audio quality IS dynamic and intense for this TV.
