(More customer reviews)I'll just confirm and add a little bit to what everyone else has said about these truly great speakers. They sound great, first and foremost. They feel very solid, like they are made entirely of metal (a good thing!). In fact, while many systems sport satellite speakers weighing around 2 pounds (USA), these weigh closer to 3 pounds.
The image on the Amazon page for these speakers does not do them at all justice! The base speaker is very big, looks like a fine price of furniture, and could possible sub as a side-table (but don't do it...hehe)!
I have mine connected to a Denon AVR-1908 receiver. I mention this because it took me a few days to figure the best setup for these speakers, and I want to mention some pointers. My receiver allows choosing between 'small' and 'large' when it comes to the front, back, and center speakers. For these speakers, set them all to 'small'.
But, most importantly, be sure the sub-woofer is turned on on your receiver! I used the system for a couple of days before I realized the bass speaker was not on! That's because the front speakers were set to 'large', so they took up the task of filling in the missing bass (so it was hard to notice the bass wasn't on). I figured out how to turn the bass on in the receiver, and - WHOA! - the entire room shook!
Which brings me to a special pointer - you can tell if the bass speaker is getting a signal by the COLOR of the light on top! If it is off, there is no power. If it is yellow, it is on, but no signal (or too low a signal to register if low volume). Blue means on and there is a signal!
So, in conclusion, these speakers are awesome for the price! Speaking of which, the price of Amazon fluctuates for this item more than the stock market! I have seen it go up and down on the same day as much as fifty or even two hundred dollars! So monitor the price and strike when it is low (I got mine for LESS than four hundred dollars!).

Klipsch Synergy Quintet III Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Five, Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I recently upgraded my system with a new receiver and needed some new speakers to complement them. I wanted the Bose Acoustimass speakers forever but couldn't bear dropping a G on them. I also wanted to stay in the "bookshelf" size speaker as it suited my set up better. So I decided to try these for less than half the price of the Bose. I figured I could return them if they didn't thrill me. Short story....they did.
I was floored by the fullness of the sound. They hit the highs, mids, and lows like a champ. I like to use the action bits on Terminator 3 to test out new recievers and speakers and these really impressed me with a huge wall of sound. I knew they were good when I got excited while watching a movie I'd seen so many times before. It was almost like listening to it for the first time. I also popped in some cd's and I swear I heard things in some of my music that I've never heard before.
I'd heard those Bose speakers a dozen times at Comp USA and Best Buy and really do feel these are better for a full sound. The Bose do the highs an mids really well but not the lows. These are designed to be the total package with their horn/tweeter design and they certainly perform as such. They can actually be used without a subwoofer, which is good for people who don't like the booming and rumbling that subs provide. Klipsch suggest their own subs(of course) but I felt the price was a little rich for my blood, so I use a $100 Sony powered sub and it works just fine.
They look and feel like they're made from good quality materials. In fact, I accidently dropped one from 2 1/2 feet onto a wooden floor (oops) and it was completely intact without any marks and still works perfectly. The posts on the back of the speakers make speaker wire attachment a snap. You just unscrew the cap, the wire goes through the middle of the post, then you tighten the cap back down. No problemo. A great feature. They also make placement and mounting easy as you can sit them on a shelf, like in the picture, or flip the stand part back to mount on a wall. They also pivot to point in most any angle you'd want. The center speaker doesn't though.
There are only a couple of slight negatives here. The center speaker sounds a little boxey. It could use some more treble as it leans a little more towards the mid range. Since the majority of dialog comes from the center speaker, I wanted a little more sharpness. This is minor though and doesn't hinder the experience at all. The other is the balancing. Pairing them with my new reciever to find the best sound was a bit tricky. Again, these are very slight negatives and shouldn't deter you from looking into these fabulous speakers. I'm just trying to be as honest as I can here. I never once thought of returning them though.
Klipsch has a great reputation in the audio world and touts these as their best selling compact speaker system. These are a great deal for the price as they sound huge and like they should cost alot more. If you're starting to get serious about your audio for your home theater, there's nothing else out there that's gonna top these at their size and price. Believe me, I looked.

(More customer reviews)well first i will say the packing was very good and shipping was very fast as far as sound i have to be honest its terrible. it was very cheap and didn't expect much at all just wanted because i got a new tv and the volume is so low i cant understand what people are saying well i have a cheap set of speakers that sound great but cant find the remote and hate to jump up and down to ajust the volume when watching a movie or when a commercial comes on so i got this it was cheap. this is hard to tell if the speakers are on its very low with the volume all the way up still can hear but sounds really bad and its not that loud even with the volume down some the speakers sound bad. i would not recommend this i would wait till you find something better because you will end up getting something else anyway i am gonna stick to getting up every five minutes till i get something else and im lazy your call just my opinion. i will say the company that sent it to me took care and packed it good and shipped it asap and it could just be my bad luck and i got a defective set every company has them even the best ones.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the unit because it said that it was 3000 Watt and it was relatively cheap. In this case you get what you pay for, the sound is substandard, the documentation for the unit is only a few pages (literally), I haven't been able to get it to play music off a usb flash drive, there is a manual, main power switch on the back of the unit that needs to be turned on and off along with the typical power switch on the remote which is a pain. The little circle you see lit up in the image is all you get for information on the status of the unit, so to know what's going on you have to understand 2 digit codes. There is no radio or cd player with the unit, and the buttons on the front of the unit & on the remote control are terrible in conjunction with the display. Also, the subwoofer is part of the main unit, not a separate speaker.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Frisby surround sound because it was cheap and it advertised True surround sound. I mainly bought it for my xbox 360. When it arrived the first problem was the display cover had already fallen off. it was easily fixable. You will definatly have to buy extenstion cords for the speakers because they are extremely short as if they were made to be set up in a small bathroom. Everything is done by remote, it has individual speaker output levels, treble and bass control. Next problem is that if the remote dies or is broken you are SOL because that is the only way to switch between outputs and volumes on the speakers. Also either the sensor on the remote or the reciever is very weak because it is frequently unreceptive.
Next, I hooked the system up to my xbox 360 using the Optical out connection, when my xbox was on stereo it worked wonderfully the sound is great for such a cheap system. However when I switched the sound to be Dolby Digital the volume completely went to garbage and only the 2 speakers on the front worked and it sounded like an AM radio at that point. Im not sure if it was a defect or not but by that point I doubted it. So i decided to connect my sound via the AUX1 input. Now things were working. Dolby Digital was doing its job and everything sounded as it should. I tested it on a few games and the surround effect was working. The system sounds great on music too. It can be loud too, though i doubt its 3000w. Its a good sounding system when it works but, you get what you pay for i guess. Even then I'd opt for something else. Despite its great sound when it works there are too many flaws. I gave it 3 stars because for its price (Which i paid 150 all together) this system is ok any more expensive and i'd call it a rip off. I will pass on Frisby products next time around and stick to the names brands I know.

(More customer reviews)These mounts are nice looking and they work well for holding up small surround speakers. The package includes a very complete selection of mounting screws and hardware. The special nuts included for keyhole speakers worked surprisingly well at securing the mount so that I could angle the speakers as desired.
About the only point of caution is that these molded plastic mounts are definitely for small speakers only. I have an Onkyo 7.1 home theater in a box. The surround speakers I have mounted are about 7"x10"x3". The mounts hold them securely enough, but are probably at the upper limit as far as weight. If your speakers are more than the recommended weight, you will need a stronger mount.
Overall I recommend this package. The price is decent and the product effective.

Vantage Point SATS-B Universal Satellite Speaker Mount - Black Review

(More customer reviews)For smaller, lighter weight satellites (I'm guessing 4 lbs or less), these are a really good deal. As other reviewers have said, they come with a lot of hardware for different types of speakers, including a key-hole adapter. However, for heavier speakers that come close to the manufacturer's stated limit (8 lbs), these aren't great. I just hung 4 Infinity Primus 140's with these. The 140's are 7 lbs and physically bulky. First, you must get the Allen screws at each of the pivot points very, very tight (without cracking the plastic). The tilting pivot (for pointing the speakers down) is next to impossible to get tight enough to hold a heavy speaker up. When you do get it tight enough, the entire bracket flexes from the torque put on the joint by the weight of the speaker. Instead of letting the pivot hold the weight, I put spacers between the wall and the bottom of the speaker. (This is for the wall mounting configuration.) I'm pretty sure the ceiling mount would be completely unsafe/unreliable for this reason. In my installation, I will likely put a secondary strap on the speaker and the wall to ensure that the speaker doesn't come crashing down if the mount fails (or if one of the joints comes loose). Also, for a heavy speaker, mount these into studs!
That being said, I'm pretty sure these are perfect for small, lightweight sats. My advice is to buy only one and try it out with your sats before you buy a set.

I highly recommend them.
EDIT- 1 month later and I am not as pleased. Still not bad but I have had to losen/straighten speakers out. I would drop down to 4 stars at this point.

Sony DAV-C990 DVD Dream System Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned this system for a couple months now, paired with a matching 42" Sony WEGA Plasma TV. I use it in my bedroom as a second home theater. I can say that while it's very stylish, it's a few features short of a "Dream System". I'm a life-long Sony loyalist and fan of their industrial design, but they always manage to blow something important in each of their products' core usage scenarios. For example:
1. The unit utterly fails to give priority to dts soundtracks on DVDs. You have to manually inspect and select dts before playing a movie.
2. There is only one optical sound input jack on the back. This means I can't connect my XBox and my Sony 301-DVD jukebox at the same time unless I forego digital sound on one of them -- ...
3. There is no S-Control jack on this unit, which means I can't interconnect it with my Sony Plasma TV and stash the amp in a drawer or cabinet.
4. Why would I want to hide it? The fan is too loud and distracting at low volumes. Since when do amplifiers need fans anyway? This system is ideal for bedrooms, but compounding this white noise with that of their Plasma TV's internal fan is simply unbearable. Consumer electronic companies should be forced to disclose whether their products have fans and what decibel levels they produce.
5. In Tuner mode, you can give the radio stations custom names but you can't do so for all the various inputs -- which most people use 100x more often. You also can't skip inputs like Video 2 that may not be in use. This problem's even worse on their Plasma TV's 6 input modes.
6. ... you cannot hot-swap discs in the changer while one is playing. This turns out to be more inconvenient than you'd think. The auto-resume feature helps out a little here. Also, it's too easy to eject a playing disc by mistake.
7. You can't put in 5 DVD movies (like a boxed set) and have them auto-play. This is more of a media/menu navigation problem, but even so -- it's just not very "Dream"-like. I get so sick of wading through previews and gratuitous menus before the feature actually starts. This would be easy to fix if Sony cared.
8. There are a plethora of useless Sound Field choices, but not a single one can play a regular 2-channel stereo music CD through the rear speakers as well as the front without applying a lame digital delay effect. ...
9. The clumsy remote control is not only uncomfortable to hold, but it includes some very obscure buttons (like Stereo/Mono, Name, Clear and Memory) and excludes some vital functions (like Wide Mode and Jump). Therefore it is unusable and must be replaced with a learning remote.
10. Even with a Sony Universal and/or Learning remote, some of the unit's functions will not respond and cannot be learned. I've heard that this is an AV1/AV2 problem, but if so, there is no apparent way to switch that mode on the unit.
11. The fast-forward and reverse functions only operate at 1x and 2x speed, and are often very sluggish and unpredictable. If you're searching for a scene or backing up to catch something you missed, this is like waiting for ketchup to come out of the bottle.
12. The remote forces you to cycle through the four main functions, which sucks if you hit a button by mistake. It would be better to have a single button for each.
Even with all of these problems, this product is a good value and it never fails to impress those who see and hear it.

Sony SS-CR3000 Center and Rear Channel Speaker Package Review

(More customer reviews)I'm a little chagrined I waited so long to immerse myself in the world of 5.1 surround sound.
Most websites on the subject will tell you to get all of your speakers from the same brand, so the harmonics are all cousins of each other. Well, with Bose bookshelf speakers, the accompanying surround speakers would have been another grand, so I decided to bottom end with Sony.
These little puppies are weird in that you can't take the mesh covers off to spock the look of the speaker diaphragms, but that's the only weird thing. They ship with the tiniest capellini-sized speaker wire you can imagine, which helps you enjoy your new sound straight out of the box until you can get some more decent sized wire.
For a starter kit, these are thoroughly sufficient, plus, they're sleek and unobtrusive. If you haven't experienced surround sound anywhere but the theaters, get these babies and rent Apocalypse Now, or any of the Bourne movies. (Or better yet, watch the dust storm episode from the first season of Carnivale--you'll quite literally be blown away.)
Also, you'll need a digital optical cable from your DVD player to your receiver; otherwise the Dolby surround won't work.

Universal 4 Black Satellite Speaker Brackets / Mounts for Walls and Ceilings 1VE Review

(More customer reviews)These speaker mounts work great with the speakers for a Sony STR-KS2300 (relatively small speakers). My speakers use a factory keyhole mount on the back (the kind that slip on top of a screw). I tried my speakers in both ceiling mounted and wall mounted configurations the mounts worked just fine. The mounts come with the hardware to mount into wood studs, concrete, and drywall.
Impressions: These speaker mounts were easy to mount and adjust to point speakers toward an optimum listening area. I've only compared these mounts to the brand held in stock by the local Best Buy (Init). Indeed, Best Buy's Init speaker mounts felt more sturdy (thicker, more solid plastic, and ratchet-like adjustment); however, Best Buys's mounts are also almost 4x the price. If you have heavy speakers, I would be careful with these mounts.
